How to make Plain past positive form of Strong verb
You have to change the last symbol of plain present positive form, following the rule below.
| う (u) → った (t ta) | かう (buy) → かった、 あう (meet) → あった |
| つ (tsu) → った (t ta) | たつ (stand) → たった、 まつ (wait) → まった |
| る (ru) → った (t ta) | わかる (understand) → わかった |
| く (ku) → いた (i ta) * | かく (write) → かいた、 なく (cry) → ないた |
| ぐ (gu) → いだ (i da) | かぐ (sniff) → かいだ、 いそぐ (hurry) → いそいだ |
| ぬ (nu) → んだ (n da) | しぬ (die) → しんだ |
| ぶ (bu) → んだ (n da) | あそぶ (play around) → あそんだ |
| む (mu) → んだ (n da) | かむ (bite) → かんだ、 うむ (give birth) → うんだ |
| す (su) → した (shi ta) | はなす (speak) → はなした |
* いく (go) has to be いった, not いいた.
