How to change the last symbol of dictionary form in Strong verb is as follows:

| る (ru) → った (t ta) | わかる (understand) → わかった |
| く (ku) → いた (i ta) * | かく (write) → かいた、 なく (cry) → ないた |
| ぐ (gu) → いだ (i da) | かぐ (sniff) → かいだ、 いそぐ (hurry) → いそいだ |
| ぬ (nu) → んだ (n da) | しぬ (die) → しんだ |
| ぶ (bu) → んだ (n da) | あそぶ (play around) → あそんだ |

* いく (go) has to be いった, not いいた.
